I should join the circus, I’ve become so adept at juggling. Juggling projects, that is. Here’s a sneak peek at one of them: blocks in progress for my Via de la Plata set of prints.
Here I’m going over a tracing with marker before carving. This is an image from a 12th-century German copy of Saint Isidor’s Etymologiae, his compendium of all his era’s knowledge.
The cosmic circle is in the foreground, with various other blocks and reference photos. In the background, from left to right, are a block of a San Isidro procession I saw in Villafranca de los Barros, a small self-portrait, and a carved image of Mary from Cáceres.
